Eric Stockman has extensive experience in professional liability defense matters, on behalf of hospitals, doctors and local practice groups, as well as architects and engineers. He practices regularly in the areas of general liability defense, architect and design professional defense, health law, appellate law, and commercial litigation . Attorney Stockman has tried numerous court and jury cases to successful conclusions, including medical malpractice, wrongful death, wrongful imprisonment, assault, sexual assault, fraud, wrongful termination and employment discrimination cases. He also handles appellate work, and has briefed and/or argued cases before the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Representative decisions include Grey v. Stamford Health Systems, Inc., 282 Conn. 745 (2007)(upholding summary judgment on behalf of local hospital in medical malpractice action); Zeilinski v. Kotsoris, 279 Conn. 312 (2006)(upholding summary judgment obtained on behalf of local hospital in medical malpractice action); Doe v. Christoforo, 87 Conn. App. 359 (2005)(successful defense of medical malpractice, sexual assault and breach of contract claim against internist); Law v. Camp, 116 F. Supp. 2d 295 (D.Conn. 2000), aff'd, Law v. Camp, 15 Fed.Appx. 24, (2d Cir. 2001), cert. denied, Law v. Camp, 534 U.S. 1162 (2002)(successful defense of wrongful death claim against internist and nine other defendants); and Treglia v. Zanesky, 67 Conn. App. 447 (2001)(successful defense of fraud and quiet title claim against five landowners). Attorney Stockman was named to Connecticut Magazine's Super Lawyers edition for 2007 and 2008 and New England Super Lawyers edition for 2007 and 2008.

Attorney Stockman was admitted to the state and federal bars in Connecticut in 1994; the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in 1998, and the U.S. Supreme Court in 2002. He joined Neubert, Pepe & Monteith in 1998 after practicing at Wiggin & Dana in New Haven, CT. Attorney Stockman graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut in 1989, with a distinction in Political Science. He earned his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law, with Honors, in 1994. At UConn Law School, he was the Commentary Editor of the Connecticut Law Review, publishing Constitutional Gerrymandering in the summer of 1993, Vol. 25, p. 1227-1264. He was also the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award in Trial Practice.

Attorney Stockman regularly presents seminars on evidentiary issues for the New Haven County Bar Association. He has presented on risk management/litigation issues before the New England Society for Healthcare Risk Management, the Connecticut Society for Healthcare Risk Management, and the Lukan Indemnity Company. He is a member of the Connecticut and New Haven County Bar Associations, the Litigation Section of the American Bar Association, and the Connecticut Society for Healthcare Risk Management.
